General Questions

The World Expos are one of the oldest and largest international events, held once every five years and lasting six months. An international fair for meetings, events, trade, science, innovation, modern technologies and business. The world expos bring together different countries to present their ideas and solutions for the future.

The first world exhibition to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region (MEASA). Expo 2020 Dubai is billed as  the largest ever international event to be held in the Arab world. The total area provided for the exhibition is 438 hectares. More than 190 countries have announced their participation, and the expected number of visitors is about 25 million. The Expo will open its doors  in 2021, the year when the nation celebrates its “Golden Jubilee” – the 50th anniversary of the unification of the seven emirates under one flag.

Expo 2020 Dubai will last six months: from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. The exhibition will be open seven days a week: on week days from 10:00 to 00:00 and during weekends and holidays from 10:00 to 02:00.

Expo 2020 Dubai takes serious security measures for its visitors, including thermal cameras to measure temperature, observe physical distance, sanitary gels and masks, regular disinfection of the premises and more.

The motto and the main theme of Expo 2020 Dubai is “Connecting minds, creating the future”. And the three main sectors and sub-themes are Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability.

Bulgaria will participate in the Mobility Sector, which focuses on the movement of people, goods and ideas. Due  to its strategic geographical location, rich culture, tourist opportunities and technological development in recent years this topic is the most suitable for the country. The Bulgarian pavilion has an area of ​​800 square meters and will present some of the best examples we have.

Expo 2020 is located in the south part of Dubai, close to Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai and Abu Dhabi International Airports, as well as the Dubai and Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminals. Expo 2020 also has its own metro station with a capacity of 22,000 passengers per hour in each direction. The exhibition has also taken measures for the disabled, providing wheelchairs and electric vehicles on site.

Light clothing is suitable for the sunny climate of the UAE. However, the organizers advise you to wear outerwear for the winter or for rooms with air conditioning such as cinemas, lobby bars, etc. Outside, clothing is loose, but it’s good to respect the local culture – tight-fitting and bare clothes are not recommended in public places such as malls and restaurants.
